Nintendo just unexpectedly added Bluetooth Audio connectivity to the Switch

Well, that came out of nowhere, right? Yep, Nintendo just pulled off one of their (quickly-becoming) trademark stealth announcements on social media. And as you can see below… the latest Switch update includes something people have been asking for since the Switch launched. Yes, the Switch will now have the “ability to pair Bluetooth devices for audio output”…

It’s really great that it’s now included but considering how long people have been wanting the functionality – I for one, had thought that the Switch was obviously missing a needed piece of tech and would just never have the functionality – until we got another major (post-OLED) hardware update. So to have it suddenly announced and simply require a system update is a real surprise. The support page also highlights that “two wireless controllers can connect to a Nintendo Switch system while using Bluetooth audio” and “up to 10 devices can be saved on a Nintendo Switch system”.
