Xbox still wants to improve ‘video capture quality and sharing’

On Friday, Chris Scullion, writing for the videogameschronicle.com, picked up on some comments made by Jason Ronald Xbox’s director of program management during the Iron Lords podcast. It’s probably worth a read and definitely worth checking out the conversation as a whole (there’s also a great segment regarding accessibility – at around this point – that I enjoyed listening to. However, the specific comments that caught the eye of Scullion were Ronald’s pretty honest appraisal of both consoles’ current video recording capabilities.

I will definitely say that Game DVR is the one area – the capture and share experience – that I wish we were able to make more progress this year than we were able to… We definitely hear the feedback… We have made some changes and we have made some improvements to the reliability and the quality of the captures but we know we still have work to do here… So that is definitely a priority for us and something that we’re going to continue to iterate on.

Personally, I love how straightforward Ronald is and I’m really impressed with how eager the team is on continuing to improve their already great products. We have really been loving everything Xbox has been doing this year and this is just another example of the company doing things the right way. We can’t wait to see how recording and sharing will improve in the near future.
