This is no secret. They could have built a new power station with the amount of money Soweto owes Eskom. Sowetans are the main reason for the situation we're in now, because for over 20 years they've spent their money on beer and weed instead of paying their power bills.

I am not in the construction industry so I may be completely ignorant, but houses/flats any type of housing should be built with a certain threshold of insulation. This will help in summer and winter.

The whole load shedding problem should be solved by a multi-faceted approach.

I just grabbed one from deep in my garage early this morning - and now I feel like I can't live without one.

Blame me for this session of cuts.

Eish my area managed to overload the grid again and make it trip so we had an extra hour and half blackout on the coldest night of the year so far

Unfortunately no one to blame except eskom on that one sly. Not just poor maintanance but poor quality equipment as well. And by coldest what do you mean? We had -1C 2 hours ago.
