    Cool Asus PG27UQ

    http://www.pcgamer.com/asus-rog-swif...sync-together/

Imagine a 27" monitor that is an IPS panel, has a 144hz refresh rate and supports G-sync. Easy right since they exist. Now try to imagine that the resolution being bumped up to 4k instead of the normal 1440p. Getting impressive right? Well now lets introduce HDR into it.

I've got to say I'm curious and interested. There is just the issue of getting a card that can do 4k with highest settings over 60fps and then the question of how you will reach 100fps+. Also saying goodbye to ultrawide 21:9? Wonder if there will be a similar ultrawide upgrade.

    Default Asus PG27UQ

Monitor seems impressive. Also the number of dinming zones implemented will ensure those inky blacks.

I personally would not go back to 16:9 ... Would be nice for them to introduce hdr in the 21:9 format. Having said that it will make the monitor mighty expensive (not that R30k almost for their current 34" is not already expensive )

Other two moot points for me is 4k on a 27 inch screen and whether it has a 100hz refresh rate or 144hz refresh rate ... it would not be visible. Let alone there are no graphics cards (sli or not) able to push 144fps on latest AAA games at 4K

I'd rather put 30k towards a new tv. High-end monitors are stupid expensiver than high-end TVs.

Except with that monitor you are set for the next 5 years minimum because apart from HDR you will need a gpu that can actually do 4k at 144fps :P

The Acer X27, the competition to the Asus PG27UG, only around $2000

But then you have to live with ****ty input lag and refresh rates.

Edit: only saw now that @StarBound necro'd this thread.

I figured I'd necro it instead of starting a new one. Essencially all of the high end panels are made by LG and used in other products.

Just imagine what your build would cost to play in 4k @ 144hz.....

I have a 165hz IPS 1440p Gsync and I'm still far from reaching the monitors full potential. Not going to buy a new one for many more years to come, especially if they are over $2000
The storm follows in my wake
