Days Gone faces delay to 2019

We're going to have to wait a while before we can become a zombie slaying biker.

Delays such as these really worry me. If Sony decided they're launching the PS5 soon (the rumored dev kits being sent out), wouldn't it be likely they'll push exclusives like these to have launch titles? Tin Foil Hats assemble!

Why is it worrying? It will most likely end up being on both ps4 and ps5.

Mostly because it'll end up being another R5k-R10k to get the most out of your games. Plus it puts stress on the dev teams. Needing to design for multiple "platforms" accounts for the terrible performance in some games, IMO.

Given the onslaught of good games this year, I welcome any delays

For PS3 alone, as it released mid year. The PS4 only released in the last part of the year through to the new year. The Remastered version for TLoU released a year after the original. So it isn't really a jump as it's an entirely different one made for the new tech. My problem is getting crosses like with the current pro, where you need to either upgrade or compromise gameplay, whether that be resolution or framerates.

They design for the base system then optimize for the pro just like any other game that is released these days

Hence the comments about stressing developers and bad performance? Designing for the lowest common denominator basically ensures that the games don't run the best they could.

Then they alienate the majority of the consumer base
They can't start selling 2 versions of the same game for the same generation.
