LG HO just called. Will replace panel with same model. Thank goodness, hopefully second one is better than first.

Worth asking but does anyone know if you can run the C8 at 1440p and 120hz over HDMI?

    I wouldn't think 1440p, since that's a non-standard TV resolution, but it should accept 1080p at 120Hz.

From what I've read the C9 supports 1440p120hz.

That's cool, maybe a benefit of HDMI 2.1 - I know Samsung offers none standard resolutions, but they've been gunning for the gaming market for a bit now.

Why do you ask, keen on hooking up your PC to play at 1440p? I would imagine super-sampling down to 1080p would still look pretty good.

Though in the case of the C9, I would think it better to push as high a res as possible and output at 4K over 1440p.

I want to push that 1440p with either 60fps or 120fps. 1080p is great and all but it still leaves a lot of detail untapped. 4k 60fps is something only the 2080ti can do. Besides the PC(s) that I have that can do 1440p is one with a gtx1080 and another is one with a gtx1070 but that one will be better with 1080p because of its slow cpu.

Surely it doesn't have to be native, can't you push 1440p or whatever and upscale the output to 4K?

For interest's sake, if you haven't heard, the current iteration of the PS5's APU is beating out the GTX1080 in 3DMark.

3DMark is all about features. I don't really accept them as game scores but that said anything can happen until the PS5 releases next year. Even more so we can have some interesting things happening in the PC space as well. The next year or 2 will probably be really big improvements followed by the usual slouch of improvements.

Regarding the scaling question, rendering 1440p then outputting at 4K, is that something you can do on PC?

By the way, I don't know if you've noticed the tweak to the gamma that came with the recent update, but an update is due soon to set it back to the old default (while retaining the new low level rendering adjustment).

I suppose downsampling or upsampling is possible but was curious if the TV could just handle it.
