I liked the first one at the time, and considering he directed the first Mortal Kombat movie, he's got one of the better game to movie track records going. I also didn't like the sequels, but he's done some fun stuff, liked his re-imagining of Death Race and Event Horizon has plenty of fans.

Event horizon, Didn't know he did that but that was great. First RE film, halfway became a mess and the ending was just retarded.

I can't remember much other than Michelle Rodrigues was in it (who I liked at the time due to Girlfight) and that I found it far more entertaining than I expected it to be - I'd argue the bar was even lower for movies based on games back in 2002. Thinking about it, it's probably the fact that it wasn't a toned down kids movie that made the difference at the time.

Resident Evil films should have been the tone of Dawn of the Dead and 30 Days later.

Heh, now you're aiming pretty high. Ag, I like my shameless trash every now and then.

EDIT: I'll put it like this, the success of the creator's intent is what merits my appreciation - not what I feel something should or shouldn't be. I appreciate the fact that Anderson knows what he is and doesn't shy away from exploitative cinema. There's not enough competent, straightforward grindhouse these days.
