Default Assisting with a US RMA

I purchased a Nvidia Shield TV through Amazon in March.

I watched a movie today and then all of the sudden the device shut down and it's just dead. No power indicator nothing.

Started chatting with Nvidia Customer Care and they said the its most likely a hardware fault.

They will start the RMA process but they do not support it in South Africa.

Has anyone been through something like this and will be able to assist me in what I will need to do.

Did you contact Amazon? I presume it's still under warranty and they will get it sorted for you?

If you do get it sorted with amazon, please keep us updated with the process and ease/difficulty of exchanging...? As want to buy a Sony amp through Amazon, but have thought about this scenario and thus have not pulled the trigger... Good luck with exchange...

Contacted Amazon, they can assist me with the RMA address, but I need to courier the item to Nvidia.

So my current option is to find a courier to the USA, which at the minimum so far is R2400 for a one-way trip so in total it would cost me the same amount( +-R5000 ) just to send the device. I can basically buy a new one at if that's the case.

So it seems like currently it's a lost cause.

    That makes no sense.

Courier should be all of R450 or so with 5-10 days priority.

I had an RMA done through intel when my CPU went bust. I bought it with amazon they said i had to contact intel directly, intel then sent a courier to pick the busted CPU up and also sent me a brand new CPU all on their cost.

Mind telling me who you use?

    So far I've checked:

    DHL
    Aramex
    FedEx

All the above was around R2000-R2500

So Amazon has agreed that I just need to return the device and they will issue the refund, no need to deal with Nvidia.

Return costs are on me, but once received they will refund 20% of the fees.

After the process, they will determine if the product is defective and if it is they will refund me in full(shipping and deposit).

Basically just need to send the item now and wait.

Paid R450 for massive boxes with DHL before.

If shipping was as expensive as your quotes nobody would sell anything.

It should cost no more than it did from Amazon in the first place.

I’m betting either your delivery priority is too high, or the online quote systems are just crap.

You can always ask Amazon to arrange for the courier to pick up the item from you but you cover the costs. Like Sauron said, it should not be more than the usual R450.
