Default PS3 or Android Box + DVD Player or Blu Ray Player?

Hey guys. The gf wants to replace her current, old DVD player and also be able to watch Netflix/YouTube. Budget is around R1500. I figured she could either get herself a PS3, which would be an all-in-one solution, but then again I am not sure if the movie apps on PS3 are still supported/working/etc. Otherwise I thought she could look into getting a cheap-ish Android box + DVD Player, or she could just go with a decent "smart" Blu Ray Player with network capabilities and movie apps. Any suggestions?

Only problem with the PS3 might be that it is region locked for DVDs and BRs.
Only when the blood runs and the shackles restrain, will the sheep then awake. When all is lost.

Figured yeah. Her current DVD player can play stuff from any region, which is quite nice.

If it is just for media with no gaming I would go the android box route. Ps3 is primarily a gaming device with media capabilities.

Just figured it would be the better option as it can do both physical and streaming media.
