Can you share a link of these sets so we read about them ?
I didn’t see the budget mentioned in the OP.

    Only the size.

For that screen size the benefit of resolution is lost.

Rather a higher quality 1080p display than a ****ty 4K.

Didn't even know there were 1080p HDR OLEDs.

Yup that comes to mind...although not at that ridiculous price.

They were heavily discounted not so long ago.

But even without HDR I would take a 43-inch 1080p of a higher quality than some piece of crap UHD.

Or simply buy a bigger TV which is more sensible and opens you up to more options.

"Piece of crap UHD", is that an umbrella term for most models of Hisense, Sinotec, JVC, Skyworth ?

I think we're past the point where 1080p can be said to offer better value across the board, 4K resolution is now standard along with the economies of scale that implies.

I wouldn't include all Hisense models in there, but yes certainly the rest leave a lot to be desired especially for gaming purposes.

In the first world I'm sure (where you don't even get a lot of the crap we get here) but in SA I wouldn't be too easily convinced.

In fairness though I haven't specifically gone to investigate along these lines but I have seen some shockers in the cheap 4K space which I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

My budget is R5500 ( maximum ) . Hopefully the NU series can get to this price point with sale/discounts . I once saw it online for approximately R5400 . I might be wrong or someone did something wrong on their side. Either way Nyt- Rider sold the Samsung to me . I too enjoy watching and playing sports so I'm leaning towards the trusted samsung. Thing is will the economy agree ?

Ever heard of the saying "one man's crash is another man's treasure " ... Nothing beats passion and love . You need those two to be happy the most . Not a blank cheaque.
