Hey, not so much caught but...

The only stuff "I thought I scored on" was through the ebucks store.

In all the excitement, I didnt look at the shipping costs

Order 1, supposed saving 40% off some toys for my daughter, after paying R250 for shipping, I only really saved R30

Order 2, Dumb celeron laptop, I checked around and this is over 4k so with free shipping and my total being R2200, I was really excited UNTIL it arrived

What a donkey, oh my hat, it was meant for my daughter but I wouldn't give this to an enemy

Just loading up excel takes a good minute or two

File browser, settings or basically any nav, I sit there wondering "did it register the click"?

Order 3 of 3, GHD gift for the wife, I guess it's OK, R180 for shipping, not a fan but can live with that one

I concur, will make a big difference on things like opening apps, and even browsing due to caching on the HDD/SDD.

Thanx chaps, this would likely make a difference but then the warranty question comes up

I will investigate that today though

If the HDD is easily accessible then it should be a simple swopout which shouldn't affect warranty. Still worth it to double check of course.

But if the lappy is built like a Mac/Acer where you have to chop of your left testicle, sacrifice a lamb and summon Beelzebub in order to replace the drive then warranty will probably be voided yeah. Some models are worse than others

Interesting, if your model is similar to this one, ouch. I hate these jobbies:

Had a quick look, dont see any HDD compartment, this means too much hassle.

Logged a return for the donkey

    Side note :

I got 2 of these for a flat 2k with shipping, quite impressive little devices , storage space it not a concern for my intended use of them.

Nothing too crazy this year and all in I spent R600 which hardly breaks the bank.

Knives and Forks from Raru and a Scale/Chopping board from Takealot.

Bought memory and hard drive for my Microserver two weeks ago and figured I would only buy one of the two hard drives I needed just in case it goes on BF special for an even better price but it didn't move.

Still got a terabyte spare so I will just leave it for now and bargain on the R/$ improving by the next stock.
