Mine has to be RDR2 so far. If not that then GoW. I haven't played Detroit yet, though. It reminds me of Binary Domain which was one of my favourite games of last gen.

    Have you played AC:Odyssey?
    It's brilliant.

RDR2 hadn't kept me interested because of it's desire for absolute realism, which sucks the life out of any enjoyment for me gameplay wise. I think it starts to forget it's a video game and mistakes itself for a simulator with horses and cowboys.
One could argue a similar point for GoW. About 5/10 hours of that game is needlessly slow walking while you receive exposition. The combat is also a lot weightier than previous games. This is why I look forward to DMC5 or anything from PlatinumGames - fast, responsive combat that requires pinpoint accuracy and reflexes to master. Nobody used to care about realism in God of War's combat. That isn't what the series was based on originally, anyway.

I haven't but I want to. I'm asking you why you think it's brilliant.

For me, Spider-Man was the most fun game of the year and my first ever Platinum. RDR2 was the exact opposite and i had to force myself to finish it as it appeared to be constantly sacrificing fun, at the altar of realism.

absolutely bang in! I can't understand how so many are voting this "GOTY" when its barely a game and more of a Mild West Simulator. You can complete the entire thing using the starting pistol and chewing tobacco.

It is a hard pick for 2018 that's for sure.

    MP BFV hands down.
SP Split between God of War and Assasins Creed Odyssey .
Loved RDR2, but the tail end was a bit tedious.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Only problem is I messed the platinum trophy for Spiderman by using the challenge tokens for upgrading gadgets instead of unlocking the suits . Those drone challenges where just ridiculously hard.

Yeah, I was lucky that I read about this beforehand and avoided that trap. So didn't need to ace the challenges
