Imagine asking if a company outselling your product can keep up with the value of service you provide. Unthinkable.
Seems pretty knee-jerk reaction.
They (Bend) were denied at a pitch. This could've been because of a ****ty pitch, on top of financial reasons.
It was also 2 years ago. Before the game's multiple successful patches, the PS5- and PS+ bundles.
Chances are a new pitch or changes in these past two years could've swayed things in a different direction.
All that said, most of the article hinges on an unnamed studio, that by the sounds of things, obviously feels wronged, and their testimony. Neither Sony, nor the 'head' of that studio, nor individuals that want to be named are making statements.
We've also already seen evidence to the contrary with indie support, in terms of games like Bugsnax or Oddworld or Marquette. They've also had a few State of Play events that solely focus on smaller titles.
