Would have done the same, especially since you are in JHB. Partserve has great service and don't ask questions at all.

If my ps5 switches itself off again mid gameplay I'm going to Partserve as well.

I'm not sure. With ps4 you had to deactivate it as your primary but still confused how it works with ps5.

If I were you I would at least reset to factory settings.

Does the factory reset automatically deactivate the primary account? I don't think that's the case.

I'm trading my PS4 in so to be safe i'll just deactivate it first and then do the factory reset.

After you select Initialize, the PS4 asks you if you want to deactivate all the primary accounts
