Probably come with a 750gb and they will sell you a sony only drive for extra money

Dont stress gamers ....simply use our 2tb proprietary drive available at our new sony flagship stores

I hope not, I'm actually thinking of picking up a PS5 next gen and I don't want the thing to suck.

I'm not worried about the size, it's going to be insufficient regardless. I'm curious as to whether or not my current mechanical drive setup would suffice, or if I would gain anything by swapping it out for an SSD driven solution.

It needs minimum 1tb storage, anything more would be a luxury imo. Those odd sized drives like 750gb, 1.5tb seem to be going extinct slowly

I've been saying it might have some fancy hybrid drive type tech that could seamlessly transfer your games to the super fast portion while you use them, but after reading they want to to minimise on duplicate data maybe they'll have a low cost 1tb solution on the board itself, and you'll able to just connect external storage.

I'm not sure how this is going to work cost wise.

Even with economies of scale and the contacts that Sony has, it just seems like 1Tb of SSD is going to cost too much.

I suspect there's going to be some hybrid system whereby there is a much smaller amount of SSD on board that's attached to a mechanical drive and then a whole lot of software effort from developers to make sure that the next portion of the game is lined up and ready to go on the SSD portion.

We all know those tech demos and promises are to be taken with grains of salt. I wouldn't be surprised to see the "no loading screens" thing only happen on games where developers spend time and effort to get it working. Others might just be a bit better than what we have now.

SSD in the PS4 only helped things by about 10% however i don't think the PS4 was ever designed to actually take advantage of it so there must have been bottlenecks all over the place. I think the PS4 has a SATA 3 connection?

Anyway, i'm just trying to figure out how Sony or MS will be able to do this in a cost effective manner.

We'd like to extend our condolences to any SIEE employees affected by these layoffs and we hope you find new jobs soon. Aaron Greenberg of Xbox commented on Twitter and noted that Xbox was hiring for several positions in the Seattle area.
Lol, i love me some Twitter banter.
