I've actually sat through this entire movie, I can appreciate it and that it was good for its time and it had some cross-cultural relevance, but damn it's a real slog. Some nice camera shots of deserts though, if you're into camera shots of deserts

Robocop's pretty "self important" too, Robocop's an allegorical Jesus and beyond the obvious corporate message, the film is a study of what it means to be a man - both in the masculine sense (notice Lewis is Murphy's feminine reflection) and in the human sense. Verhoeven's films are often about way more than you think they're about.

It's soundtrack was and is still highly influential as well. Basically catapulted Synthwave into the mainstream.
Definitely. Between this and Hotline Miami is where my love of synthwave started.

If you watch it again, it's actually three movies in one.
The first part is just a straight-up testosterone action movie.
The second part is a slasher survival horror.
The third part is a non-comedic version of whatever genre Home Alone is.
