DualSense Edge

I think it comes down to preference. For me specifically I see it as 2-3 DualSense controllers so I’d rather have that over a single unit whereas others would also want the customisable features.

The hot swappable analogs is moot if they only changed the analogs to Hall effect sensors to virtually eradicate the stick drift problem.

I looked at it but I'm quite happy with the standard controller and don't see how I'd benefit from this one. There's nothing I feel needs tightening, loosening or any other such thing. Maybe if I were a big COD guy and wanted less play on the triggers or something.

Haven't got a DualSense Edge, but I bought myself an XBox Elite II the other month. I don't adjusted anything regarding tensions, trigger distance, etc

For me the win here are the button mapping profiles and assigning buttons to the 4 rear paddles. Apart from the default buttons mapping profile, you can configure three others that can be used. Right now I am finding I tend to use them in games and map run and crouch/prone to the back paddled.

I thought that Sony would do the same as they did with the DS4 and have the back button attachment. All the other features seem software locked by Sony and should be achievable on a DS5 but they're doing an apple these days so this is where we are.

The Standard DualSense with an Extremerate RISE2 or RISE4 kit is by far the best bang for buck you can get, both from a cost and reliability standpoint. If the Controller dies, can just replace it with a new one (or RMA if in warranty still) and swop out the rear panel to the RISE. It's very easy to do, takes less than 30 mins and the kit comes with all the tools you need to do it.

You get the build quality and support of a first party controller with the added functionality of 2 or 4 back buttons depending on which kit you get that can be reprogrammed on the fly. Sadly you dont get game profiles or anything gimmicky like that, but the kit works flawlessly. I've been using one for years now across two controllers. Xmods in Ballito also stocks the kits if you dont want to get one from Amazon.

It's a scam imo, I don't see how adding back buttons and removable thumbsticks makes it 3x the price of a regular controller.

At 2K I would get it (that's about the value I see over the regular controller) but at 4.5K I don't see the point.

Indeed

The only reason I got myself a Xbox Elite II was because I got it for £115 marked from £160, and decided to treat myself for my birthday.

I’m happy to pay full price for a deluxe controller. The Elite 2 has the right idea, especially with the carry case and insane battery life.

The Edge is a total failure imo. Cannot believe Sony thought that battery wouldn’t be a problem.

I'm enjoying mine. Definitely feels much higher quality than the standard DS. For reference, I went through 2 DS controllers which started to fail due to stick drift. The Edge is going strong, except for a slightly squeaky D-pad.

The customisable back buttons are really nice for any game. Especially FPS or Fifa.
