What Do You Collect?

Post pics of things you enjoy collecting.

As a kid I was massively into comics, I used to cycle around Durbanville every Saturday to play arcade games at the cafes and scour their comic racks and shelves for new issues of whatever I could find - I had alphabetised bookshelves full, thousands of comics. I ended up selling most of them as video-games - the ability to bring the arcade home - became a thing and funnelled the money into that hobby.

Toward the end of primary school I developed a strong interest in film and began to collect VHS tapes, later DVDs. I had a big collection, but once Blu-ray rolled along, it began to feel a little pointless, being the second time I'd have to replace everything.

I didn't collect anything for a long time after that. But recently, with Ultra HD set to be the last physical format, I decided to rebuild my collection for posterity - since then the bug has bit:

My wife dives into the collection to maintain a small pile of films to watch:

Unintentionally: caps... I have a cupboard full of them... I can't bring myself to throwing them out, used, ugly, gifts, bought, golf days etc. I just insist on keeping them! Will add a pic sometime...

I had a situation like that with promo/brand/franchise T-shirts - used them mainly as house/garden work and gym clothes.

I enjoy collecting for vintage home video formats. The more obsolete the better. :p

I rewatched True Lies when it popped up on Disney+, not as good as I remember from watching it in the cinema originally.

My only proper experience with LaserDisc was at an old girlfriend of mine's neighbour's house. They girls used to go over there and use it for karaoke, but of course I was way more interested in her Dad's film collect. And you know, just the awesome size of those discs!

Nothing beats the feeling of that physical collection. I’ve still got a bunch of old music cds, dvds and the odd blu ray. I’ve toyed with the idea of getting rid of them but just can’t bring myself to even though I’ll never use them again.

Also have some sets of comic book trading cards from back in the day and a whole bunch of Lego sets that were once built and now in pieces all over the house because kids.

I’ve completely foregone the concept of physical collections.

Outside of my digital games library my Kindle library is right in line.

Only thing I still have some physical versions of is MTG.

I collect nothing. Most of the time i'm actively looking to get rid of things, even though multiple people have commented on how empty our house is.

Hey, i guess maybe i collect empty space?

Same, except maybe for a small collection of caps. My wife does enough collecting (of clutter) for the both of us.
