Playing PS3 games on PS5

Is it true that you can only play PS3 games on PS5 via streaming because backwards compatibility does not exist for PS3?

Was keen to play Fallout 3 but seems I have to subscribe to PS+ and stream.

I think so, I tried playing my MGS4 disc on ps5 and it just did'nt work at all but I did'nt try anything else just in case it might cause some kind of damage

Yeah I’m pretty sure that’s the case. That PS3 was a very different animal.

Then again, maybe the remote streaming is ok in UK. Will need to give it a go.

It should be fine for Fallout as the pace of the action is quite slow.

PS3 CPU architecture was wildly different from the PS4 & PS5's CPU - too much dev resources to freely make each PS3 games backwards compatible.

Just play Fallout 3 on PC, literally every modern PC should be able to run it - or even better get both New Vegas and Fallout 3 and play " A Tale of Two Wastelands" a mod that lets you play Fallout 3 and New Vegas as a single combined experience.
