So the actual reason has finally been revealed. Here is Dr Disrespect's post from today:

THE TWITCH BAN

Hello, I'd like to make a quick statement..

Lets cut the ****ing bull****, as you know there's no filter with me. I've always been up front and real with you guys on anything that I can be up front about, and I'm always willing to accept responsibility... which is why I'm here now.

First and foremost I do want to apologize to everyone in my community as well as those close to me, my team, and everyone at Midnight Society Game Studio.

A lot of people have been left in the dark about what happened yesterday with midnight society and I, and we made the painful decision collectively, to have me step down. Our team is full of incredibly talented and good people that have high career ambitions and families and i'd never want jeopardize the culture we have carefully crafted.

Everyone has been wanting to know why I was banned from twitch, but for reasons outside of my control, I was not allowed to say anything for the last several years. Now that two former twitch employees have publicly disclosed the accusations, I can now tell you my side of the story regarding the ban.

Were there twitch whisper messages with an individual back in 2017? The answer is yes. Were there real intentions behind these messages, the answer is absolutely not. These were casual, mutual conversations that sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate, but nothing more. Nothing illegal happened, no pictures were shared, no crimes were committed, I never even met the individual. I went through a lengthy arbitration regarding a civil dispute with twitch and that case was resolved by a settlement. Let me be clear, it was not a criminal case against me and no criminal charges have ever been brought against me.

Now, from a moral standpoint I'll absolutely take responsibility. I should have never entertained these conversations to begin with. That's on me. That's on me as an adult, a husband and a father. It should have never happened. I get it. I’m not perfect and I’ll ****ing own my ****. This was stupid.

Now, with all this said, don't get it ****ing mistaken, I’ve seen all the remarks and labels being throw around so loosely. Social media is a destruction zone. I'm no ****ing predator or pedophile. Are you kidding me? Anyone that truely knows me ****ing knows where I stand on those things with those types of people. **** that. That's a different level of disgust that I ****ing hate even hearing about. Don't be labeling me as the worst of the worst with your exaggerations. Get the **** outta here with that ****.

But I think I've said what I needed to say regarding the ban itself. That's it. That's why twitch made the decision in 2020.

To my team, community, industry friends that have supported me, I apologize, I wish I could've said all this sooner. You guys have always showed me and my family love and support throughout all these years we love you guys like you can't imagine. I have the ****ing best community and circle. If any of this has made you uncomfortable, I get it. You don't have to support me anymore but just know you have always been greatly appreciated.

But trust me when I say this...to all my haters that live and breath social media with zero real life experience, I don't give a **** about you.

Finally, if you're uncomfortable with this entire statement and think I'm a piece of ****, that's fine. But I'm not ****ing going anywhere. I’m not the same guy that made this mistake all those years ago. I'm taking an extended vacation with my family as mentioned on stream and I'm coming back with a heavy weight off my shoulders.

They want me to disappear... yeah ****ing right

Have a feeling that if those messages were ever leaked, it would be a lot more than “…leaning in the direction of being inappropriate.” What a carefully worded response.

The hilarious **** is that he edited the word minor out of this 1 minute after the post and then put it back in 20 minutes later. Like he was trying to defuse the situation by leaving out vital info.

I'd love to know what "inappropriate" message doesn't make him a predator or paedo. Did he message her to plan to overthrow the government together or something LMAO

Nah the man was in his mid 30s with a wife and kid but still had to perv with an underage girl. Strip the paedo of his internet fame.

What I don't see here is if you knew she was a minor at the time? Not to judge, none of my business really, just curious

Whispers was an 18+ service in 2017, so there is a possibility that when he chatted to the individual, the assumption is that they were 18+.

At the same time though, DrD being vague about details doesn't help his cause if he didn't know the individual was under age.

The fact Twitch paid him out (in settlement with NDA) after being sued by DrD makes me think that nothing illegal happened, and probably wanted to hide the fact Twitch staff had access to "private" messages.

If he didn’t know the individual was underage at the time he would have stated as such in his lengthy posting.

Also doesn’t help his case that “Nothing illegal happened, no pictures were shared, no crimes were committed, I never even met the individual” is the defense of every pedophile caught during the communication stage ever.

This is how I feel. The statement put out by DrD seems deliberately worded to avoid certain details that could easily clear up any misconceptions, especially regarding if he knew the individual was underage or not when chatting to them.

According to RollingStone, the question everyone was asking has been answered. Below is an excerpt.

*****

A former Twitch trust and safety employee, who worked for the platform at the time Beahm was banned and has direct knowledge of the matter, confirmed to Rolling Stone that Beahm continued to send sexually graphic messages to a minor he knew to be underage. This former employee, who requested anonymity to avoid jeopardizing their career, also said that crucial elements of Beahm’s latest defensive tweet are inaccurate.

“I recall that Dr Disrespect was made aware by the individual that they were underage during the conversation, after which he indicated that this was no problem and continued on,” the former employee says. “There was no confusion. Messages sent after this was acknowledged were no less graphic and in sexually explicit nature than before, and I think more than the categorization of ‘leaning too much in the direction of being inappropriate’ might indicate.”

Dr. Disrespect Unveils ‘Comeback’ After Admitting He Inappropriately Messaged A Minor

Despite sentiments that he was perhaps going to “ride off into the sunset” shortly before he admitted he inappropriately messaged a minor which led directly to his infamous Twitch Ban, Dr. Disrespect is back.

The steamer posted a photo on Twitter of him in front of a board where he has chess pieces and his unseen opponent has checkers. Then, he replied to a few detractors with insults. It’s the first time he’s re-emerged in over a month since the reason for his ban was exposed, and its bit surreal this “comeback” post sits right on top of his admission post from June 25, which says:

“Were there twitch whisper messages with an individual minor back in 2017? The answer is yes. Were there real intentions behind these messages, the answer is absolutely not. These were casual, mutual conversations that sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate, but nothing more. Nothing illegal happened, no pictures were shared, no crimes were committed.”

There was reporting ahead of this statement this was the reason for his ban, but Disrespect actually confirmed it in this post, cementing it as fact. He was immediately dropped by sponsors but also his own game studio, Midnight Society, which was making an extraction shooter with him.

It’s a pretty unsettling situation to see so many people “welcoming” Disrespect back, as that chess/checkers photo has 90,000 likes and thousands of comments of support. It also has a number of “ratios” reminding him and everyone of what he admitted to. Again, this is not a Donald Trump situation where he’s simply denying everything he’s ever been accused of. He has flat-out admitted to inappropriately messaging a minor. Supporting him after that means you simply don’t care about that, and I’ve seen a lot of justifications like “well 17 isn’t so bad” (we do not know the age of the girl involved). I’ve even seen people trying to divorce the man, Guy Beahm, from the character, Dr. Disrespect, as Guy did something bad but Disrespect didn’t.

As for Doc himself, he’s back in character, not apologizing, which he also did not do in his admission post. He seems determined to hit the gas and attempt to blast his way through all this to presumably return to streaming, and likely continue to attract some measure of an audience, judging by the response to his return. It’s unclear if his current platform, YouTube, will have anything to say about this. Controversial streaming site Kick seemed ambivalent about recruiting him during this chaos, and that was even before his admission.

In his brief return, there are already indicators that the Doc persona may now be moving harder in the “right wing online guy” direction. In a handful of replies he calls someone “she/her” derisively and another commenter “brainwashed woke boy.” Is it woke to…not support someone who has admitted to inappropriately messaging a minor? That seems to perhaps be the narrative he’s trying to create.

I don’t even know what to make of the entire chess vs. checkers picture. That’s generally thought of as some sort of master plan where you’re outsmarting you’re opponent, “you’re playing chess while they’re playing checkers.” Here, in this context, is he trying to say admitting to inappropriately messaging a minor was some sort of 4-dimensional chess move?

What’s sad is that this may actually work. While it won’t be what it was, it’s clear that if Doc simply returns to streaming he will certainly attract enough of an audience to make a good living even if he’s radioactive from a brand or…friend standpoint, as all his fellow streamers denounced him after his admission. And if he leans into this “the woke they/them mob has cancelled me!” persona, he may even gain new followers from that crowd.

We’ll see what happens next, but this is thoroughly bizarre already.
