GAMESCOM 2023

Honestly I'm at the point now where I no longer care about these announcement/showcase events. All I care about is feedback on release.

EDIT: It was special back in the E3 heyday because it was this one time of year where you got to peak behind the curtain and see what's coming down the pipe - nowadays it's a constant stream of new release hype and shows for games that generally disappoint.

Seeing Zack Snyder and his new IP was a pleasant surprise. Looking very good.
Crimson Desert still looks lovely but was a bit dismayed that it is giving me some AC vibes now. NOT what you want to do.
Black Myth still very impressive.
Immortals of Aveum has me wondering if I should get it. Always crush on Jessica Pearson, and the gameplay looks like my kinda.

The only MUST BUY from last nights show for me is still 'Lords of the Fallen'

Had a quick look through the presentation. Not too much jumped out at me BUT things will change once people start to get hands on with stuff. I don't do day 1 anymore, not even month 1 really so time is on my side for these games to evolve after they launch.

Starfield is critical i feel, they need this thing to be good at launch after a spate of misses and i really want it to be as good as possible even though i'll probably never play it.

Alan Wake 2 looks good, Fort Solis i'll be keeping a close eye on, Black Myth Wukong continues to impress me and i hope it delivers.

Not sure about Armored Core; looks spectacular but i'm not sure it's my type of thing. Maybe if i was into COD it would have been a decent showing overall.

I literally spaced out when COD came on. By time I paid attention again and saw it still on, went to make a cuppa.

If you're into simulators, you're in for a treat

Highway police simulator 3
construction simulator
Bus Simulator 21 Next Stop
Fernbus Simulator
Firefighting Simulator: The Squad
Farming Simulator 22/23
Microsoft Flight Simulator
Parking deck simulator
Police Simulator: Patrol Officers
Road maintenance simulator 2
Truck and logistics simulator

Watched most of the trailers, skipped all the dialogue. Seems like 5 studios are making the same game using the same assets. Can't even remember the names, just remember thinking I'd seen this before. COD looks good, but also just more of the same. No interest.

Rebel Moon looks lekker. Starfield is the only thing I'm keen on after seeing all the trailers.

Same here tbh. I mostly watch trailers post show to skip the discussion points but will watch if it's on and I'm having a quick bite between things.

Seeing Zack Snyder and his new IP was a pleasant surprise. Looking very good.
Crimson Desert still looks lovely but was a bit dismayed that it is giving me some AC vibes now. NOT what you want to do.

Immortals of Aveum has me wondering if I should get it. Always crush on Jessica Pearson, and the gameplay looks like my kinda.

I didn't like what I saw. Probably the overdone snyder filter so will wait on reviews. Been let down with a lot of Netflix movies of late.

Nee *** people must stop hanging onto this guy just because he is a South African.

He is the equivalent of a one hit wonder making more utter **** movies than the few good ones he is lauded for.
I used to be an avid Blomkamp supporter. Apart from District 9, the only other movie I enjoyed was Elysium which is 10 years ago now. He had some series on Netflix which was average.

Unfortunately his star seems to have fizzled out.

Exactly his track record is actually pretty shocking but people hold him up on a pedestal against the one hit wonder.

He should have just done what everyone wanted, a District 9 sequel. That prawn that left in the ship can come back, and we can see what happened to Wikus van der Merwe.
