Intel 13th and 14th gen issues

Anyone that has experienced issues on the newer intel CPUs? Stability or performance issues now on the latested microcode release?

I was able to get my hands on a new i5-14500T Dell Optiplex Micro 7020 but the performance is about the same as my 4th gen Haswell i7-4790. I know these micro systems pose a thermal challenge, but I never had performance issues when using the same size HP EliteDesks AMD computers.

Heck, a 12watt passively cooled Ryzen R1505G and a Realme C67 phone does half of what my 14th gen i5 does.

The problems were with VIDs exceeding 1.55v which is what the latest BIOS with the microcode update fixed.
It was mostly on 14th gen parts with insane turbo frequencies that had insane voltage spikes and over time the problem caused degradation.

13700K here. Latest firmware. Zero issues. I still don't trust Intel's 1.55v limit long-term so I limited my own to 1.4v max.

On your i5-14500T posted above, the max VID is 1.324v so you are safely under 1.55v.

I had a 13700kf which was giving issues in late 2023. Wootware gave me a 14700k in Feb 2024, and since then I've been using the Intel default settings with no issues.

Thinking back, it was actually quite traumatic. The blue screens would occasionally corrupt Windows files and make me do a fresh install.

For my 14900k most of the issue are all RAM related.
I had to manually set the RAM timing, speed and controller voltage in order to get it stable and running as fast as possible.
Default JEDEC or XMP settings result in stability issues.
(This was for a kit that was on the QVL)

My best advice is if you're having stability issues with a 13000 or 14000 series CPU, try running Memtest86 and see if it passes.
If not, you might need to tweak your RAM settings a bit.

But it all depends.
I also had a manual OC of my GPU that was not stable when I was still using my PCIe 4.0 Riser Cable, but after upgrading to a PCIe 5.0 Riser Cable that issue went away too.
(Now the OC is suddenly stable when it would previously result in stability issues)
Would need to see the error codes to get a better idea of the root cause.
