15 months on and the forum regulars from the past month in the discussions section consists of

With some even posting just once in a month. Is 33ish really enough to keep a forum going? Feels like the size of a small Whatsapp group.


Seems like most of the old guard are gone with no intention of returning. The introductions thread is like a graveyard with a few oldies that chilled here for a few months and are gone again.

The old site had an active classifieds section, this one is pretty barren as people don't really know each other on this site and Carbonite is huge.

The old site touched on SA news a lot, the news here is mostly from bots while MyBroadband is huge source of local news and discussion complete with journos.

Even gaming news arrives hours/days later (except if it's a Sony/MS stream/blog) while Resetera will have it after minutes.


Just feels like it isn't very sustainable.

Ultimately the members will decide if it remains active or not.

For me though...
  1. I like dropping in a few times a day.
  2. Sort of miss the banter, but also weary of the toxicity towards the end of old SAG.
  3. The discord guys are happy where they are, I doubt the forum will grow much.
  4. Forums are a dying platform.
  5. Forum costs are not much and there is hardly any maintenance happening at this point.
So it will just carry on until it doesn't

Howzit Guys,
Most likely guys have tried to speak to previous older members to join the new forum but if not maybe if current guys reach out to them.
I reached out when I new about new forum but think only 5-6 guys re joined the new forum.
Like was mentioned carb is huge now.
