Dragon Age Veilguard

So many details for a game that doesn't even have a release date besides "2024" is crazy
It has a release window of fall 2024. So somewhere between September - November.

I suspect either September or October. Avowed also has a fall 2024 date but whispers suggest November. EA/BW would probably prefer not to launch in the same month.

No idea why we need an announcement for an announcement but they revealed the announcement for the release date is today:

Don't get why we need to wait for an announcement when the news already leaked that it's 31 October, they should just drop the trailer right now already.

Quite a hectic time to release a game that has taken soo long to develop.
This despite them cutting features (and staff...) to make it easier/quicker to make (ditching open world approach, 2 party members instead of 3, 2 less companions overall, not being able to switch and control a party member, no Dragon Age Keep etc).

Really should've been a August/September title.

EA blog on the PC features:
The requirements on the steam page is rather low with recommended being a ryzen 3700x and rtx2070.

DLSS 3 with Frame Generation makes me very happy. The last game was very CPU limited, so this should makes things way better.

Now let's hope they don't do something stupid like lock cutscenes to 30 or 60fps.

Details regarding the character creator:

I see that certain people are blowing the option of adding surgical scars to their characters out of proportion while conveniently ignoring how it has been possible to add scars to the character one is creating for years. This is roleplaying, whether one decides to play as someone who looks entirely different and is of a different species or to go with a human who resembles the player as closely as the character creator will allow. It is one of many options and is not being forced upon players.

My problem is not the concept of scars in an RPG, but the fact that these scars are the result of severe mental illness and not the usual "Oh look, this barbarian was in a fight and cut his eye" etc etc.
Show me a RPG with self harm cuts. There isn't.

But honestly I'm over it. This year has had some of the most "progressive" games and most of them have flopped, so the problem will take care of itself.

Likely the last Bioware game ever so I'm going to enjoy it (for free too!), even if this is the person leading it.

Same group who isn't aware bioware games have had non straight options since jade empire , that was 2005 so nearly 2 decades of games from them.

I have some concerns regarding the combat and world states not carried over but these character options is just some people looking for a political angle to complain.

Yes, I heard about Corinne.
I am not qualified to assess the mental health of anyone undergoing gender reassignment surgery, nor am I fussed about it.
[The usual caution around surgery applies. I prefer to avoid surgery altogether for anything less than life-saving procedures. The medical cost is prohibitive, even if I did care about my identity. [I don't *think* I do, so I can hardly empathise with gender dysphoria. I am not inclined to attack those who feel this way, though. Their lives may be difficult enough as it is.]

Precisely. The game will speak for itself when i is released and again after the usual flurry of patches.

The way people ascribe "wokeness" to the failure of any given project is just silly. The accusation is so arbitrary and doesn't hold up to scrutiny when weighing failure or success of media at large - it's purely a justification for ones own negative feelings towards an individual or group.

It's a scarcity mindset, the false belief that a different segment of society being paid attention to diminishes you. It's not a zero sum game, extending privilege to others is just that, it takes nothing from you.

Just so you are aware, non-straight is a hurtful term according to the group you are defending. It implies straight as the default/superior. Same way "non-white" was used to demean other races during apartheid.

You have to use the word queer instead. I'm not making this up. You see how bad things have gotten in 20 years?

Oh it's terrible, oh my God, they're coming for us now - run!
