So I am a 37 year old Swedish Guy. My real gaming experience started with Diablo 1 & 2, and Starcraft 1 & 2, and Warcraft 3. I was ADDICTED!
I am currently playing Dota 2. There is a custom game there called Custom Hero Chaos. It has 5-6k players at peak time, which means an active player population of about 500k. I played a lot of custom games back with Staracraft 1 & 2, and ESPECIALLY Warcraft 3.
This got me thinking.
I spent a full 10 days writing out this document, which is now 155 pages long. Just going over it the last time -- took about 20 hours! =)
I ended up creating two different versions of the same game. One more complex for pc (called: 12 ROUNDS OF CHAOS), and another one for mobile only (called: CHAOS ARENA).
I would love it if you wanted to give feedback on this document?
If 155 pages feels like too much, then scroll down to the "Chaos Arena" section below, which is strictly about the (much smaller) mobile game.

<======================================================>
Simply put, 12 Rounds of Chaos is a hardcore sandbox PVP game -- where 6 players battle each other over 12 rounds.
Each player can have 1 Hero, 2 Companions, and 4 Minions on their side. But each side also has computer controlled minions.
Each Hero has 6 active skills and 6 passive skills. But every single skill can be upgraded a limitless number of times. There is, of course, diminishing returns!
You pick a primary hero, which gives you 3 active skill slots from that hero. You pick a secondary hero, which gives you 2 active skills slot from that hero. You pick a tertiary hero, which gives you 1 active skill slot from that hero.
The 6 passive skills are picked from a pool of skills everybody has access to.
Each HERO, COMPANION, and MINION is 100% uniqe. Because when it is made, 40 different metrics are randomized. It also had a random amount of skill slots, and a random level of the skill (between 1-5). The stronger the minions, the more skills it has.
Just to give you an idea. Here is a list of all the different "Metrics".
They are divided into two levels. Each Metric decides how good the hero/companion/minion is at that particular thing.
There are 40 Metrics. They are divided into two levels.
LEVEL 1.
The first level has 23 Metrics.
They are:
1. Attack damage
2. Attack speed
3. Attack range
4. Projectile speed
5. Armor
6. Evasion
7. True strike
8. Hit points
9. Hp regen
10. Mana regen
11. Critical strike
12. Spell critical strike
13. Spell damage
14. Magic resistance
15. Lifesteal
16. Spell lifesteal
17. Casting time
18. Cast range
19. Movement speed
20. Slow resistance
21. Damage block physical
22. Damage block magical
23. Regeneration & Healing
LEVEL 2.
The second level has 17 metrics.
1. Damage reduction percentage physical
2. Damage reduction percentage magical
3. Damage reflection percentage physical
4. Damage reflection percentage magical
5. Critical strike reduction flat number
6. Critical strike reduction percentage
7. Status resistance flat number
8. Status resistance percentage
9. Debuff resistance flat number
10. Debuff resistance percentage
11. Debuff mastery flat number
12. Debuff mastery percentage
13. True sight range
14. Mana burn per attack
15. Mana burn per spell
16. Max damage limit (per second)
17. Regeneration & Healing reduction
Each of these "Metrics" or "Attributes" get a random VISIBLE value, and a random INVISIBLE value -- which determine how strong it will be in the game.
Once you figure our your Metrics, you have to lay accordingly. If you have a really short "casting time", and long "cast rage" -- then maybe make a magician!
You also get a chance to re-roll bad numbers, and ugrade existing numbers. There is a whole system just for that.
I just wanted to show you these 40 Metrics.
It is like MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) -- you have to fight according to your body type.
Below is a description of the simpler mobile version of the game.
It is written towards game developers. That's why it is written like that!

Chaos Area
”Chaos Arena” is a simplified version of ”12 Rounds of Chaos”. It is designed — specifically — for mobile gaming. You can read more about it in a section called ”Chaos Arena” — at the bottom of the document (page 151).
For this mobile only game, you would only have to make:
- 20 Heroes with 6 Skills each
- 60 Items
- The Fighting Area
- 20 Different Minions
- The Game Interface Itself
A team of 2-3 people could easily make this game.
3 Phases
Each round would have 3 Phases. In Phase 1 you battle computer controlled minions in a small area. The fastest clearer of these minions gets the most gold. The slowest gets the least gold.
In Phase 2 you farm computer controll minions in an open area alongside other enemy players. You farm minions and fight the other heroes at the same time! Killing minions and Heroes gives you gold, which you can use to buy items at the shop.
In Phase 3 you battle another hero in a duel to the death. The winner gets a big bounty of gold. You face the other players on rotation.
You could sell new Heroes and Skins for a couple dollars each. Just like Leage of Legends is doing.
Or you could have Premium Option for 5 dollars a month — that unlocks a bunch of new heros, skins, and game modes.
Drop System
I would also like to have a Drop System — where the winner of each game gets a chance to win a rare skin. This skin can be sold at the market for real money.Other players would get a chance to buy this skin. The game company would take a 15% commission on each transaction.
Spending money at Heroes and Skins would increase the chance that you get a drop like this.
This way, each individual player has an incentive to buy Heroes and Skins at the store (which is pure profit for the game company).
<=============================================>
I would love it if a small gaming studio wanted to make this game.
I do not have any connections in this sector whatsoever. My one childhood friend who worked with video games no longer works in this field.
A much worse version of this game is already up and running, it is called Custom Hero Chaos -- and it is incredibly fun! hahaha
True story. I play this custom game TOO MUCH. My rating is 4.2 k at the moment. The highest I have seen is low 5k. I play this custom game 4-5 hours a day. Yeah!
The easiest way to succeed with something new, is to take something -- that already provably works -- and improve it a lot. Blizzard took Magic The Gathering -- and turned it into Hearthstone!
There was actually an absolutely epic custom game back in Warcraft 3 called "Hero Arena", I talk about that at the bottom of the document.
But that custom game could have been, perhaps, as big as Dota 2 is today, if somebody had turned it into a real game!
The PDF file is attached at the bottom.
