Masters of the universe - 8/10
Too bad it bombed at the box office. I really enjoyed it. I hope that there will be a sequal.

RIDERS OF JUSTICE
8/10

So much more than what I or anyone would expect from trailer.
We done Danes, very well done.

My issue with Masters of the Universe is how the hell do you give us Skeletor that is so entertaining, and not give him more screen time.
Great bad guy character! :)

Supergirl - can see why the movie flopped and already hit streaming, really didn't do any justice to the character. No name brand villain that should have been dead in the first 5 seconds of being on screen with supergirl but drawn out for pointless plot trying it's best to make you dislike her.

Yeah I myself was very disappointed with it. I hope that we will see more of Lobo in the future.

Been watching quite a few older recently, but these are my most recent watches.

In the Grey - 7/10
For a movie I went into blind, having seen no marketing for it, was pleasantly surprised. Would definitely like more expansion on the ideas. Worst part of it is probably how 2 dimensional characters are (likely due to runtime limitations).

Backrooms - 4 maybe 5/10
This just didn't click with me. And the hype surrounding it probably did more harm than good. Felt like a mess of ideas, just like the backrooms it's based on.

Yojimbo - 8/10
Splendid bit of Samurai (Ronin?) media from Kurosawa. Can definitely see where Clint Eastwood's western pulled from this.

Sanjuro - 9/10
Follow up to the aforementioned, and just upped the game in my opinion to the one before it.

12 Angry Men - 9/10
Pretty amazing what they could pull off with a good script and limited budget. Making a movie about twelve guys talking in a room so compelling.

Rumble in the Bronx - 6 maybe 7/10
The biggest issues I had with this is due to editing. From some strange cuts to audio mixing being all over the place (it's a product of the time). Fighting is pretty great throughout though.

Rashomon - 9/10
Another great movie by Kurosawa. It's really remarkable what they were able to achieve artistically and thematically, even with the overall theme being so cynical. Less action focused than other Kurosawa films, but makes up for it with the narrative.

City on Fire - 6,5/10
I feel like I would've rated this a bit higher if I watched it in the period it came out in. Some of the jumps between scenes and the speed at which Chow integrates himself with the gang is jarring - and a longer runtime would likely have fixed that. A solid entry, if only for the relevance of being inspirational to Reservoir Dogs.

Edit:

Supergirl - 6/10
It was... Fine, I guess. Some odd choices,
the most notable being the inclusion of Lobo. He was just so redundant to the actual movie, and the time wasted on him would've been better spent on expanding other story beats. And then the whole 3 day timeline seems like a ridiculous inclusion that just opens a lot of plot holes.

Evil Dead Burn - 5/10
Disappointing entry to the franchise. Weak 'plot', what there is of it, with more holes than some deadites accrue. It still feels like the franchise doesn't entirely know what tone it wants to go for, especially since the remake. And why the CGI... especially with how the series is known for practical effects. Watch it for the gore, but not much else.

Have only watched a handful of horrors this year, but damn, have they been disappointing.

Wasabi - 7/10
An action movie that leans into it's absurdity, I hope intentionally, to make for a fun romp. Not something you watch for depth but I would recommend for anyone that doesn't mind a French film.

Obsession - 8/10
Pleasantly surprised (thought all the hype around this would lead me to disappointment). Actress is rightfully lauded for her acting, can't say the same for the others in the film, they pull it down a bit. The unease built in the movie was really good.

Pearl - 7/10
I expected more here, with how the trilogy is praised. X was much better, and this just felt like a bit of a lore dump, that probably wasn't necessary to begin with.

Minions & Monsters - 6/10
A fun movie, though all the ideas thrown in made it pretty disjointed. Think it would be great for kids, who likely watch it in snippets. The trailer made me hope for more.
