Turns out it was a legit shop before Covid and they seemingly just rode on that wagon so lots of old references still show up for it.

In your defense there's been a few of these legit shops that end up taking everyone's money in their last days, miphones.co.za comes to mind.

I had two charge backs the past few months. In both cases I had to follow up after a month before they credited me. So make a note in your calendar to follow up. Seems they like to forget about it, in fact my second one was closed without me knowing it due not not supply any communication with the vendor. I had to explain it was an online service and there are no documents (NordVPN that auto charged me for November when I cancelled in the app - they have an auto charge option in the website which was not in the app!).
 
So in fear of more disappointment before Christmas I pulled the trigger over at Koodoo,being the official distributor channel and all, last night at full price to make sure it gets here and I'll just float the home loan money a little until the charge back happens.

Mother****ers this morning run a "Christmas special", ironically for the same price I got scammed for and I almost lose my **** but figure let me pop them a polite mail and just ask if there's any chance of cancelling the order so I can take up the better price.

To their credit they got back to me within an hour and were happy to cancel it and let me redo it, but offered a R1000 voucher instead as that will make things a lot easier and faster so I said sure thing and then paid back the favour by ordering the normal DS5 charge dock and the VR controller charge doc and paying in the difference because the battery life on Sony stuff is shocking.

So I'll endeavour to use them again going forward if they stock what I want.

Nice one. You won’t be disappointed with the VR. I loved my OG VR but can’t justify the new one currently with my limited time. I must’ve missed the scam story. Got a link?

Yeah I was an early OG adopter.

Waited out on this one but slowly bought games over the year as the kids have been asking about VR so it's more a surprise for them than anything else.

I can't remember where I posted about it but basically bought the PSVR2 from thegadgetshopsa.co.za for what seemed a reasonable discount on Black Friday.

Price wasn't outrageous, Pricecheck.co.za listed them and it wasn't an EFT only transaction so it seemed decent. (Never ever pay for **** online with EFT only).

Asked around and a few people had heard of them and the name was familiar to me. Google searches even showed a few branches so I went right ahead.

Figured it was just slow BF stuff and a week later I reached out to them as it was still sitting in "processing" and they came back to me quickly to say sorry they are bottlenecked a bit.

No drama I'm patient. Then Payfast called me one day to ask if I had received my goods yet and I said no there's a delay. The guy didn't insinuate anything but I just got a vibe this call was because they suspect something.

Then on Sunday I decided to check up and the domain was dead and I checked Google Maps and the last few reviews were all stuck without their goods.

Turns out this was a real shop that died in Covid and they pretty much rode it out on that brand name to pull a fast one it seems.

Lodged claims with both FNB and Payfast and three days later I've heard absolutely nothing except for reference numbers.

If you are a Private Client then contact your banker. That’s what I did. But I still had to follow up after 30 days or they don’t credit you.

Downgraded from Private during Covid as I wasn't using the travel benefits, but for some reason half the time I get pushed to their queue anyway.

But not to worry Payfast has said they will refund immediately even though they don't believe the merchant is fraudulent, so seems I won't need FNB.

It’s the OLED panel type LG has been using for the past few years across its ranges. The G3 additionally has a Micro Lens Array (MLA) layer that boosts light output considerably (improving HDR performance).

I wasn't going to go for it initially, but we were out last night with friends and a conversation around buying my current TV from me when we move sprung up and I proposed my friend buy mine from me now, since we don't know when we'll be moving anymore, and I'll buy this (as it's currently on special).

He messaged me this morning to say in the sober light of day he still wants to go forward with the plan, so here we are!
 
Nice, hell of a TV that.

Looking to upgrade my 55” C1 for a 65” C3, which are now cheaper than what I paid for the 55”.

But I also need to sort out my TV room and some sort of decent surround sound.

I was thinking yesterday if it would not have been better if you waited till after your move, but if you have a buyer for your TV now then it makes sense.

Ja, crazy how these things progress, especially with the specials that crop up at the tail end of a range's lifespan.

I also planned to go for a larger size when I eventually bought a new TV, but this is the same size. Reason I went for it though is that the special on this particular model and screen size is crazy good. I already informed a friend of mine about it earlier in the month and he took advantage of the special too - it's retailing for markedly cheaper than even the B3.

Ja, I had all sorts of plans for the new place, but we've postponed the move indefinitely as we wait on my wife's Danish citizenship and sort through the implications.

Nah I’ve got a basic Yamaha soundbar. My situation is suboptimal.

My preference would be the Sony HT-A9s with Sub but that setup is really expensive. Next would be the Samsung Q990C which is a bit cheaper but then needs a more permanent spot for the rears. Also on the list is the JBL 1300x which has detachable rears and charge when back on the Bar.
 
Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 for Xbox Series S upstairs. Microsoft currently has them at an extremely good discount, best price I have ever seen, so they are likely release a Series 3 next week LOL
