Flying back today, yesterday took part in the tradition of visiting a shrine to make a prayer for the year ahead (well, I accompanied my wife at least):
You throw money on the tarp, then make your prayer.
On route, there are barrels of sake offered by distillers country wide as tribute to the various temple deities:
Interestingly, France sends barrels of wine as well, nice diplomatic gesture:

That is terrible... yeah, we'd have been devastated too... especially after a year of looking forward to it and travelling all the way and hotel bookings and everything that went into the total trip.
BONUS: We also got to see Paramore as the opening act.
