Starfield - Bethesda Softworks
Digital Foundry ultimately went on to sum up that a 40FPS mode in Starfield on Xbox Series X definitely seems a potential option based on the limited testing they've done so far, or Bethesda could opt for a Variable Refresh Rate mode instead and unlock the frame rate so those with VRR-supported displays would still see a smooth picture.

I'm done with this game, just not having a good time. Load screens for everything, constant crashing and spending most of the time in the menu has sucked out the joy for me.

I haven't even started playing it, don't plan to for a while either. Just don't have the energy to play another open world game at this point in time.

Game needs decent specs unfortunately. My experience .....

I spent this weekend being a corporate shill. If I attend another board meeting or put thousands into, basically, indentured slavery through industrial sabotage and espionage again, it will be too soon.
BUT... near 500k credits :sneaky:

Think I am done with the game for a while, My second playthrough I was a nice guy, did all the main faction quests, finished that and then my third playthrough I skipped mainquest and just did the crimson fleet quests but stayed on their side, got a monster costume and for now I feel like I have done everything I wanted to. ended up around level 65

I honestly can't remember when a video game has had me grinning and marveling at arb stuff so much.
I am on a research project grind this week. Need the upgraded build and manufacturing options unlocked.
PS: Use photo mode at your own risk....it's a time sink of note.

also saw something somewhere where Beth estimates +$1B in revenue over next couple years.

You know a game is epic when the hate train just can't stop.

Completed 1st run. Nice story. I have become what I fought against. There was still so much on my mission log not done, and some stuff not discovered when the credits rolled. Will address in NG+ when I get back to it next year. The way NG+ is done is very good, to keep you invested and playing. Can see after a few runs weapons will be of minor importance if you build skills right and find the stuff in new runs that will continually level the new you. Can literally become Dart Vader if that way inclined. Great that dialogue, choices, events and locations change on new runs, even the choice at the end presented is quite refreshing.

But after 198hrs on my space jaunt I am onto some other games before going back. The potential for expansions and types of content in STARFIELD is second to none. I have renewed faith in their graphics engine too.

Fantastic game, and almost my favourite BETH game. Well deserved 2nd spot at moment. Lack of MP cost it top spot. May change with whatever BETH has cooking for us next year.

Seems that all the folks that were throwing shade at Starfield are probably people who haven't/couldn't play it.

Starfield's 13 million players spent an average of 40 hours with the RPG, and one alien killed them more than anything else

Starfield developer Bethesda has released some player stats to round up the RPG's launch year, and it revealed a lot about its fans.

As detailed in the Starfield End of the Year Update post, 13 million players have adventured into Bethesda's space RPG since its launch in September 2023 - with 22,284,331 days played or an average of 40 hours of playtime each. Not only this but just under 5% of that total playtime (26,027,845 hours) was spent building ships, which isn't much of a surprise with all the Starfield ship customization options.

Some other interesting stats show that the most dangerous faction in Starfield is Ecliptic, which resulted in 12,276,466 deaths among those 13 million players. There was also one alien that stood out among the rest due to how deadly it is. According to the statistics, the most dangerous lifeform in Starfield is Ashta which has managed to kill 1,712,447 times since launch.

On a more positive note, the infographic also reveals Starfield players' favorite meal, Battlemeal Multipack, which was eaten 18,395,892 times. The rest of the stats show what the most trusted weapon in Starfield is (Combatech Beowulf - 595,023,360 kills), the most used power (Sense Star Stuff), how many Starborn players there are (1,631,993), and how many players crossed The Unity (5,178,133).

I have been playing quite a bit of the game in the holiday as I have more time. I am at about the 40 hour mark and am enjoying it much more since getting extended sessions in.

Currently busy with the Crimson Fleet faction, this game really have sections that looks incredible and the Starliner is one of those places.

Would like to know what the median is, honestly 40 hours for an RPG is not particularly good.
Seems about right if compared to me.

I have 44 and 47 hours on Cyberpunk and Hogwarts which I have both completed, and even the I felt they were both too long. Some like myself are not interested in spending too much time in a game doing every single mission and getting every single collection.

The fact RDR2 won an ongoing support award and the reaction on Youtube to Starfield winning AN award should tell you everything about the significance of these Steam awards. Imagine having Epic Games Store Awards, it would be ridiculous.

Lies of P had more innovative gameplay than Starfield, whose shooting is not even up to par with shooters like COD4 MW and Battlefield 3 from 2007 & 2011 respectively.

At least Steam is somewhat independent.

Sony awarded themselves Game of the Year for Spiderman 2.

Steam users are just taking the piss. Nobody believes that Starfield and RDR actually deserve those awards. It’s a great way to make fun of the developers.
