I wanted to start this thread, since Steam OS is now basically rolling out with support for desktop PCs with the inclusion of a Desktop Mode, it's looking like a more tempting option.

While I played around with Bazzite earlier this year, I'm not going to try out Steam OS on my desktop PC to see how that compares.
(While keeping Win 11 on my 2nd SSD for anything that still just refuses to run.)

In the meanwhile I wanted to see if any one else here has tried it, or if there are any benchmark comparisons you'd like me to run in Win 11 and Steam OS to see how the average FPS compares?

I'll try it out if there's support for Nvidia GPUs. Otherwise it would be a waste of time, currently.

Been thinking of building a mini-ITX AMD system for the TV but yeah... 32GB RAM for R10k is making that difficult.

My guess is you currently have an Nvidia GPU?

No shade, but if you don't I would recommend giving AMD a shot.
I decided to switch to Radeon and get a RX 9070 XT, mostly because I have a SFF build that get's moved around a lot, so I can't risk having the power connector melt on me because it got shaken loose or bent too aggressively due to the tight space it's in.
I was also hesitant, but it's actually been an amazing experience so far.

The Sapphire card I got overclocks like none of my previous Nvidia GPUs ever could, and I found myself genuinely enjoying tinkering with my GPU again for the first time in years.
Frankly, I don't think I'll switch back to Nvidia again.
I'm happy to keep buying Sapphire GPUs going forward, it's great value for money by comparison and the build quality is some of the best in the industry currently.

Again, I know everyone has a preference, all my friends and family (except for the the few that use Linux) have in Nvidia GPUs, so I understand some people simply have a preference.
Just wanted to share my 2c, in case you didn't get a GPU yet 😁
