Consumer Tip : Always check your fuel gauge after you fill up.
On Monday I thought I would fill up seeing as the tank was just under a quarter and I did not feel like spending R1200 for a whole 50+ litre tank. I recon it would be around R900 to R1000. When they guy finished cleaning the windows (I could have done without) and said it was R1020 I did not think much of it, paid and off I went. However, on the way home when I eventually remembered to reset the trip counter, I saw the tank was still where it was before I filled up. Initially I thought the float in the tank went bust, even disconnected the battery for 5 minutes to check and see if that helped. No dice. I thought it was stuck
Today I saw it was actually going down and not long thereafter I got a fuel low warning. I was in for the full R1200 Monty at a different petrol station. Thankfully when I called up the one from Monday, they said they know about me and were waiting for me. Turns out the attendant did not tag correctly so no fuel was dispensed, and it just so happens the previous customer filled up with the about the amount I was expecting.
I got what I paid back in cash. What a weird occurrence though. Very nice manager and he said you should always check before you drive off because these things happen. Rarely - but it does.
