I had a spot of bad luck last weekend doing the grocery shopping. As I jumped onto my bike to cycle home I caught the bike seat in the pocket of my winter jacket and ripped the side of the jacket.

I bought a new one I really like this weekend, with flaps to cover the pockets so history won't repeat itself:

GIK's the most reasonably priced manufacturer locally, the equivalent from Vicoustic would cost you quite a bit more, then Artnovion quite a bit more still.

Of course you can make your own (though a tuned membrane is not a simple thing to properly implement), but this is less hassle and performance is a known quantity (also not plywood).

I'm happy with the response of my subs overall, but when changing volume there is a peak that doesn't behave uniformly. I've EQ'd it so that it's level around my typical listening volume. GIK is running a promotion on bass traps with free shipping that ends today - I caved last minute, wanting to see if I can get rid of it altogether with these traps.

Here you can see the raw response with the peak circled. Next to it is the response smoothed to represent what our ears actually hear:

Now if I push the volume up 5dB, this happens (and correspondingly it drops when I lower the volume):

Finally arrived, thought the seller was a scam after getting a bogus shipping notification, but they kept clear communication and gave me a 50% refund for the wait, so score for me.20250319_113300.jpg
