You don’t need a star tracker for time lapse. You can use an intervelometer.

For astrophotography you need a star tracker so the stars remain pin points and don’t smear. You take 100s of long exposure shots (like 180s) and then post process it with steps like stacking and stretching to reveal the majesty that you can’t see with the naked eye.
