Yeah, always a spike after the "3, 2, 1 go!" and there was a moderate climb out of the venue, but then things settled in.
Raining here today and riding dirt roads when it's wet is a huge mess, so I am very happy with how things worked out. Was out of puff a few times, but 95th place is good for me.
The legend about this ride is a good read
They did have some guy there with a bugle that he was not afraid to blow.
