Soon to be the Winelands Airport
Built 6 years ago, just crossed 30,000km. Doing about 5,000km a year which is half what I did when I commuted. Last Silverback lasts 31,000km but I bought it used.

I need to get back on my bike again. Struggling to find time to hit the trails. The thing is here it is quite a drive to get to the trails. Can't just go and cycle anywhere anymore due to saftetySoon to be the Winelands Airport

Roads that side is also not great. I recall talking to a guy in my start group at the Argus this year about both of us being on mountain bikes for a road race. He said where he is from in Gauteng you don't use a road bike - too many potholes - you just get a mountain bike to be on the safe side.
Those purple pedals from takealot that I put on last week did not even last 200km!
This happened today - had to trap that stompie back home :

The pot holes is the least of my concerns. It is the crime that is the worrying factor. We usually cycle early mornings or late afternoons after work. But depending where you go, you can get robbed. We had an issue where a father and son was cycling at a trail close where i live. They tried to rob them. The father tried to protect his son and tell him to get away as quick as possible. We had a spate of attacks last year. I was targeted a few times but no successful attempts. I always ride with two pepper sprays - fogger and stream - also a decoy phone. Can't be too cautious. This year thankfully no attempts so far since the arrested one of the thieves

Found this in Drina close to Loznica yesterday.
(Was actually looking for the watch I lost)
We called the police to collect it and they confirmed it's real.
Was still made in Yugoslavia, so it's been there for at least a 100 years or so I think.
But did you find the watch ?

Nope, that's just my luck at this current state
This entire year has been a "I should have stayed in bed this morning" type of year
