Starfield - Bethesda Softworks

Starfield - Bethesda Softworks
All the other IGN reviews from different countries gave it high scores, this US guy is an outlier.

I am very tempted to buy the premium pack.
IGN US are Playstation shills. They have "forgotten" on multiplatform games to include XB as a released platform... several times. I am not surprised at their score. In fact...

Colour me impressed, they did a much better job than I expected. Great stuff.

Ign are knuckleheads across the world. They went to complete **** around 2010.

Impressions by proxy, since my wife is playing and I’m just watching…the character creation screen for the past half hour.

Lack of a brightness slider is driving me nuts, I don’t know if it’s an OLED thing but the default is way too high and simply washed out. I guess they are doing the “right” thing as a first party to inherit the Xbox built in calibration here but something is clearly wrong.

The game doesn’t look 30fps, but I’m sure that’s a bit different when I play it myself.

Dolby Atmos pretty impressive so far.

Allegedly there's HDR issues being reported where game looks washed out. Also some dude did a video showing HDR issues.

I caved and bought the Premium edition for me and Sauron's wife.

(My wife was sleeping after our afternoon of boats and lunch and wine.)

The game looks great but I also find it strange that there is no brightness slider.

I must also still figure out all the controls.

They gave it 70/100 which is quite far off the average of 87/100.

Makes it hard to believe this video is not coming from the basis they are getting flack about a lower score than the majority, and they are wanting to try defend it in a round about way.

I have played a bit more and this is my type of game, I love Bethesda games and this is more of the same formula.

The 30FPS does not bother me even though it does bother me in other games, I don't know what they did but it is smooth.

The game is a bit overwhelming but I am starting to figure things out. (Maybe I should not have played the intro after a few whiskies.)

Allegedly some YouTube creators are unhappy that StarField isn't a buggy mess like Cyberpunk was. A number being thrown around for a creator making Cyberpunk videos, made over $100k from YouTube during the first few weeks by detailing how bad was.

From the reviews I read, I must say that the ability to just transport to anywhere with no time delay is disappointing. Makes the idea of discovering a universe pointless I think.

I like that there's fast travel. In my old age I don't have the luxury of exploring so I prefer my games 'get to the point' but I do also understand the need to explore. I feel like the decision was made intentionally so that they wouldn't have to pad out space with more procedural content.

I love the option of fast travel, so you can choose to fly everywhere or teleport, it's great. Loving the game so far, however navigating to objectives in big cities can be difficult, just finding where to go, clunky. Also over encumbrance is a big problem. Otherwise they did a great job. I still would love 60fps modes.

I was under the impression that you had to discover places first before you could transport there.

I think you ca fast travel to any place that is on your map, even if you have not visited it before.

I am having fun but don't have enough time to sit down for a lekker long session.
