They are know to be trustworthy leakers so yeah seems legit. Also looks like the kind of revisionist design Sony normally goes with.

Wonder about the size though, should be interesting…

Yea, looks to be taller/longer - will have to move things around in the TV cabinet to accommodate it.

  • No I will keep playing on my PS4
  • No I am waiting for the PS6

Other hardware covers that. And you have great patience.

I had patience, till I sold my PS4 Pro early to wait for a PS5 and ended up sitting like this watching people play the Last of Us Part 2

PS5 Pro all the way for me.
The best way to spend the next 4 years playing GTA 6, Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Tsushima 2, Horizon 3, Marvel Wolverine, The Last of Us Part 3, Bend Studios new IP, Santa Monica New IP, and more.

I've seen the leaked pic and it looks like the slim so will work with the detachable drive. IMO there's no reason to even launch a pro model. The rumours are that it ships with a standard DS5 controller instead of the pro controller as well which is just another joke if true. Shows how out of touch with reality Sony are in this gen. This gen only really launched a year ago when the console supply chain was sorted so any plans for a pro should've been shelved and instead focus shifted to the PS6 team and supporting devs to get games ready for that hardware from now. As much as xbox get slack for the way they do things, they have gotten more right than sony imo. It's just the xbox one announcement saga that continues to haunt them and give sony the edge.

I tried "Last of Us" (first) twice and did not like it. I purchased the game and swapped it for Gran Turismo Sport and then got it free on PSN. The TV series was great. I had the PS2 and eventually sold it. I waited a few years and got the PS4 (which I won in a competition).

Im really on the fence about the PS5 pro. Once it's actually announced I'll consider it. Im not sure if it will really be enough of a jump for me. The PS5 is plenty good for my gaming needs. I feel like allot of games haven't even extracted the full potential of the PS5 as it is (Games still releasing for PS5 and PS4 crazy)

I might wait for the PS6. But again if the PS5 pro is a big jump I might get on board. I'll need 4k 120fps or native widescreen support which I doubt we will get it. But even then that will mean I'll have to pull the trigger on the ultra wide monitor I have had an eye on or get a new tv again.

Star Wars Outlaws on PS5 dips as low as 720/60 and 1134p/30. And this is not just down to poor optimization, but rather the choice of ray tracing in its visual design.

PS5 Pro is rumoured to add some significant raytracing improvements along with more horsepower for a higher base resolution and the option for PSSR to improve image quality over FSR. Sounds like a worthwhile mid gen upgrade.

And the Dualsense Edge would just raise the price unnecessarily. Most people don't need to spend that extra $130 for some software niceties, paddles and trigger stops.
This thing is probably going to hit at $599 without a disc drive, not enough margin to include a disc drive and Edge while remaining competitive.

No. Xbox have basically screwed themselves at every turn. New one is the Series X with 2 Tb for $1000 AUD. They are having a laugh, that’s what the PS5 Pro will probably be and it’s just a regular old Series X.

The PS5 Pro will be a low volume seller that Sony will use to showcase everything. Imagine all the ads showing GTA VI running much better on Sony’s platform. That alone might be worth the effort of a Pro revision.

That sounds like a Sony problem tbh.. A pro console should be pro everything so they must go all in and bite the cost difference if they're using it to justify a pro experience or just not do it at all. They will probably pull an apple and say it compliments the pros who have already invested in the pro controller :P

Also I believe that games are not optimised mainly due to time constraints these days. We've seen what the chinese and korean devs are able to pull off in shorter time frames with smaller teams so I don't buy that as an excuse. We've seen what the Sony studios that have the benefit of time produce in terms of visual fidelity. Look at concord, nobody says it doesn't run well, its just a poorly timed release.

I don't think so. Yes the XSX 2tb is probably overpriced but its probably region specific as they're predominantly US focused which is the biggest gripe I have with them. Other than that, they have done more to move the market forward than Sony who have played it safe with the advantage they've gained. Every risk Sony has taken has flopped but just doesn't get as criticized as much.

Black Myth Wukong dips to 1224p/30 and 1080p/60 (has to use Frame Generation).
Stellar Blade is 1440p/60.

Neither titles use raytracing either. Even Concord with no raytracing (and not even an open world) can only hit 1440p/60.

Not true. Sony took as much risk with Helldivers II as they did with Concord.
One worked the other didn't.

And they are getting massive criticism ever since they decided to make a massive push into Live Service with even Sony fans celebrating failures in that regard. Concord, cancelled TLoU MP game, Foam Stars, Destruction All Stars. All terrible, well documented failures.

Not sure why you think MS have "moved the market forward more than Sony".
In what way? Streaming? Sony has had that at least as long as MS and it's not very popular on either.
Vita model, expensive, proprietary expansion for the SSD? Terrible idea.
MS have also held the entire market back this gen with the Series S.
Buying publishers and Studios all over the place? Sony have done that for ages, and it's blown up in both their faces (thankfully).

Only thing they have done is pushed GP into interesting areas like Firestick but i'll bet anything they get almost zero growth from that, it'll just be the same subscribers playing on a different device.
