Those drop goals were really bad attempts lol. NZ left 5 points on the board with their missed conversion and penalty so they had their chances too.
 
Ja, I don't understand that people are saying we were lucky. We outplayed the AB's in the first half, we should have scored a try when Siya did not pass, our gamble to only have one hooker nearly backfired but Deon Fourie made up for his missed lineouts by tackling them the whole time.

We kicked our points when it mattered, the AB's decided to go for the lineout option and not take their points, when they did kick to poles they missed.

The scoreboard shows who is the best team in the world.
 
If I were to be critical... in this World Cup (especially the last 3 games), our line outs were terrible. We lost so many of our own throw-ins and we didn't bother to contest most of the opposition's... the one area where I've always felt SA are excellent became our primary weakness.

Still, we got it done, and that's all that matters.

We were hanging on for the entire second half after Siya's yellow. Didn't look like scoring points at all. And besides for 10 mins it was 15 vs 14.
Our defense was magnificent but NZ had a try disallowed for a knock-on phases back and butchered another try.
We took our chances but don't think it's over the top to admit we were lucky.

This Springbok side was excellent, the youngsters have some big boots to fill in 4 years with quite a few intl retirees but when you see guys like Canan Moodie you see there is still great potential.
 
The england game was the perfect wake up call for the boys, but to be fair going 3 weeks in a row at maximum effort the way the boks play was always going to be a impossible task.

We played the rest of the top 6 teams in the world, and beat 4 of them( we should have won the Ireland game). We had the worst possible pool and then had to take on a Tonga team who were up for it. I highly doubt any other team besides the AB's could have done what we done to win this world cup.

What counted in our favour is that 23 of the players in our 30 man squad were there for 2019. The boks came into that match with a desire to win that was unmatched, but had the experience to see it through.

Yes we missed Marx, having him there with Bongi would have helped make those 1 point games less nerve wracking. That being said, we had the depth and the management staff to adapt our game plans and still get the wins.

Going forward most of our backline are still young enough to make 2027 world cup, and maybe half our forwards if managed well. We have some excellent young talent coming through the ranks in the forwards department though so they need to be brought into the mix next year. We only have 2 more years of Rassie at the wheel. I'm pretty sure he is going to do his utmost best to help prepare us in this next 2 years to go 3 in a row.
 
So who is going to make it till 23:00 for tonight's game? I am not sure I am going to make it, maybe the first half.

BMT lacking from Manie on that last kick but our problems were more than that.

They swarmed our defense with numbers that confused our backs, some missed tackles at crucial times.

The Argentines is not a kak team, they have beaten everyone this year and I think that they are going to give Ireland a go at the end of the year.

We should win next week as Rassie will pick the strongest team available.

I agree, but it was a good march, Argentina did well, Manie did't make the finish needed but its more than just that kick. That being said thats his job and he need to make a kick like that when its needed.

Wasn't just that kick, the one before that where he kicked over the dead ball line turned into 3 points for Argentina.

The reason why we lost against Ireland in the world cup came down to all those missed kicks. To win a world cup final, or even the Currie Cup, you need to make those pressure kicks just like Hendrikse did for the sharks. We just need Sacha to heal now,.then we have Handre and even Jaydon and Manie can take a back seat
