How? My assumption was that a fair amount of PS4 games use DSR and would get a decent res bump in the Boost Mode on Pro.

I don't know, but from the Sony PS5 Pro blog:

Other enhancements include PS5 Pro Game Boost, which can apply to more than 8,500 backward compatible PS4 games playable on PS5 Pro. This feature may stabilize or improve the performance of supported PS4 and PS5 games. Enhanced Image Quality for PS4 games is also available to improve the resolution on select PS4 games.

The real proof is going to come from Outlaws and Aveum, both need to move off FSR and onto something better. Aveum got a couple of good patches but still could use some help.

I'm not that interested in those games from a gaming perspective, the one that interests me most is Alan Wake 2 - there is a beautiful game there, but the current low res upscale is hideous. I'd also love to see Astro Bot's current shadows and reflections replaced by RT.

Of course out of technical interest the titles you mention, along with other titles like Jedi Survivor, will be interesting to see.

PS5 Pro Reveal Is Already Sony's Most Disliked Console Announcement

The official PS5 Pro reveal video currently sits at around 2.9 million views, with 90,000 likes and 141,000 dislikes — and the dislikes are only getting higher. Again, this is a bigger backlash than any previous PlayStation console has been subjected to.

For context, the standard PS5 announcement has a ridiculous 43 million views, but only 69,000 dislikes. Meanwhile, the PS4 Pro reveal — arguably a better point of comparison — has 1.6 million views and 5,600 dislikes.

Do you think they will go over the $600 im not sure if they will I recon it will be $600 for the pro.

Then maybe a price reduction int the slim at $450(disc) and $400 digital. But maybe I'm dreaming, the pro is more of an enthusiast product so they might charge a enthusiast price.
Boy was I wrong. Damn

PS5 Pro Probably Won't Run GTA 6 at 4K 60FPS, Tech Expert Claims

For months now, it's been speculated and theorised how the PS5 Pro will really start to justify its power (and price) once GTA 6 lands next year. As the biggest game of the generation releases, people will be looking to experience it in the best possible way. It still sounds like the PS5 Pro will be the console you'll want to make that happen, but the enhanced box may simply be stabilising what's already there rather than pushing it to new heights.

In an interview piece between IGN and Richard Leadbetter of Digital Foundry, it's discussed what sort of benefits GTA 6 may see on the PS5 Pro. However, when Leadbetter is asked if the new PS5 machine could realistically run the Rockstar title at 60 frames-per-second, he's very to the point: "No. Grand Theft Auto games have always run complex simulations that push the CPU hard, which is why every GTA game has initially launched on their target platforms at 30fps (or lower!). The PS5 Pro uses the same CPU as the PS5 and it would be extremely challenging to hit 60fps if the base PS5 version is targeting 30fps. This isn't a GPU problem, it's a CPU problem."

Assuming some PS5 Pro-specific improvements are in the works for GTA 6, it sounds like they'll mostly be focused on the graphics. "What you will get will be higher quality visuals, but likely still running at similar frame rates [to the base console], Leadbetter continues. "If GTA 6 can't sustain a locked 30fps (GTA 4 and GTA 5 couldn't on PS3 and Xbox 360), PS5 Pro can run the CPU with a 10 per cent bump to clock speeds — so you may get more stable performance."

Of course it won't, people wasting money and supporting these stupid practices.

Saw an article that said Cerny mentioned 75% of the PS5 player base play games in performance mode.

FPS over Fidelity any damn day of the week. Really wish devs would catch a wake up and start prioritising FPS over graphical output, there comes a point where it really doesn't matter anymore especially when the game is in motion. Plenty older games still look amazing today. Get your art direction done properly and we won't need these cash grab mid life consoles that barely make any difference to the gameplay experience.

Look I can see an extra leaf on this tree in the background when I pause my game, big whoop, play the damn game instead of pausing. Even the high quality 4k 60fps video still had games in it running at 30fps, people posting it can't even notice that yet want to talk about fidelity and stuff, it's a joke.

Digitalfoundry are not tech experts. Yes it's likely gta 6 will be 30fps but there is hope it runs at 60 still.

1400-1440p/30 real-time trailer with RTGI and RT reflections on PS5. Optimization is done late in development, but we have also yet to see the real open world with driving.

My bet is 1200-1400p/30 on PS5 with RTGI and RT reflections while the PS5 Pro hits 1700~1800p/30 with PSSR and advanced RT.

People are being stupid if they think they are going to run high-detail, busy environment, open world games at 4k60. GTA games have an insane amount going on in them.

1440p@40 with VRR will be amazing, even that might not be achievable. Whatever it is though, it's going to be a lot better than the Series X which is it's direct competitor.

I see some press outlets have received PS5 Pros - hopefully that Tweet from John Linneman means DF has one as well. Looking forward to the incoming coverage!

They must have done so, they need the positive press.

Wonder what this thing is going to cost in SA?

We are waiting to see what kind of trade in deals are offered at the various stores, always helps to take the sting off and is super convenient for people like me who don't want to sell privately.

Don't these scalper ever rest?

PlayStation 5 Disc Drives Are Selling Out

Sony’s standalone PlayStation 5 disk drive has been selling out online since the announcement of the PlayStation 5 Pro earlier this week. When the PlayStation 5 originally launched in 2020, it came in two different versions: a standard console with a built-in optical disk drive and a digital-only model that was offered at a somewhat lower price. Late last year, Sony released an attachable disk drive for the PS5 Digital Edition console, allowing gamers who initially picked up the disk-free version to play physical 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray discs, Blu-ray discs, and DVDs on their system.

They must have done so, they need the positive press.

I feel like part of the strategy was to get the negative part out early, then let the machine speak for itself, so that when it does eventually come to market the sticker price shock will be a distant memory.

Almost 200k dislikes  People are not happy

I do wonder how much the costly Concorde failure has caused the higher than expected prices.
