But why is that?

I would have thought this would be perfect to offload onto hardware, especially as AMD is the chip maker as well?

Is Nvidia DLSS also software?

Good question. AMD lags behind, probably why Sony decided to do it themselves.
NVIDIA DLSS is hardware based, super efficiency since it runs on dedicated Tensor cores.

FSR 4.0 might be using dedicated hardware, we will see.

In the case of remakes and remasters, you’re talking PS4 to PS5 or Xbox One to Xbox Series - different code, different game.

In contrast this is a Series S/X situation - albeit with priority reversed.
 

PS5 Pro South African Pre-Orders Likely a No-Go For Now​

According to PlayStation South Africa’s social media pages, the console has yet to receive its ICASA and NRCS clearance. By the look of things, shipping and logistics around the PS5 Pro have yet to be confirmed too.

Of course, all of these things are important to the launch of a new product in the country. Usually, these approvals are done before to save time but I suspect this wasn’t possible given the PS5 Pro’s secrecy.

I predicted the console might cost over R21,000 or even R22,000 in South Africa. This was taken by the direct comparison of the current PS5 console and working out the Pound to Rand exchange on its R13,999 asking price. But until the price is confirmed, don’t take this as set in stone.

Lol R22k that’s a crazy difference.

Got my preorder in this morning. Was a mad rush on the websites but more due to people wanting anniversary edition stuff. Stupidly they opened preorders for those and the Pro at the same time.

Anniversary stuff is all gone here but Pros can be had with ease even now.

I'm genuinely surprised that God of War Ragnarök didn't make that list.
 
Just realised I typed enchanted instead of enhanced. Don’t think the Pro is that fancy.

Anyway these are just what we know of so far, still over a month for others to create patches if they want.
 
PS5 Pro pre-order here is $1379 in NZ, which is crazy to me as you get a PS5 Slim digital edition at $599 currently, normally $849. Why the big price disparity from slim to the pro? Not really playing games anymore so I'll be waiting for a price drop.
